Yes, you read that correctly: a children’s book. And not just any book, but the first children’s book for little property valuation experts – created in cooperation with HypZert GmbH and with plenty of passion, enthusiasm and, of course, a good dose of real estate love.

Why a children’s book?

If you are now wondering “Why on earth a children’s book about property valuation?”, then let me explain briefly.

About a year ago, at the “Treffpunkt Immobilienkommunikation”, I was musing during a panel discussion. I talked about podcasts, internships and how to inspire young people for the real estate industry. And suddenly the idea appeared: why not start much earlier? Why not spark enthusiasm for our sector already in childhood?

The idea was there, and so was the motivation – only the detailed expertise for every potential specialism was missing. But fortunately, there were people in the audience with exactly that expertise – and with the desire to join in. There was a warm “I’m happy to be part of this!” and I knew: we’ll do it.

From the idea to the #ImmoMinis book series

With a bit of persuasion I was also able to excite my colleagues at on-geo GmbH (including approval of the budget – thanks again!). And so we began with a topic close to our heart: valuation experts and surveyors.

Together with the wonderful Tanja Reiss from HypZert, who brings real expertise to the table, we got to work. And eventually, there was Charly, our main character. Whether Charly is a boy or a girl? Each child decides that for themselves.

What makes the book special

“My parents are surveyors” is not a dry factual book. It is lovingly illustrated, told in a child-friendly way and gives a playful insight into the everyday work of property valuation experts. It is aimed both at children who want to understand what Mum or Dad actually do for a living, and at experts themselves who want to explain their profession to their families in a likeable way.

The illustrations are hand-painted, the texts written by humans – without ChatGPT or Midjourney. And you can feel that in the book: it is created with genuine passion!

What comes next

This book is only the beginning. It marks the launch of the new #ImmoMinis series. More books are already being planned – featuring other professions in the real estate industry and additional co-authors from the sector.

For our goal is clear: we want to inspire the next generation for the exciting, diverse and often underestimated world of the real estate industry. And what could be better suited for that than a children’s book?
