
Towards digital mortgage processes: real estate professionals in dialogue

Expert opinions matter – especially in the real estate industry. With this in mind, we created our format “The Expert Talk” to engage in dialogue with experienced professionals on the digitalisation of the mortgage sector.
And the results speak for themselves: in four episodes so far, we have invited the crème de la crème of the real estate industry every second Wednesday of the month from 9:00 to 9:30 to discuss mortgage financing, loan decisions and much more.
However, this is not merely an analogue conversation between experts, but an interactive event via Teams: the audience can ask questions and participate in numerous polls of each episode. And it is well received: up to 60 participants per episode have already joined us as viewers, and we have delved into many different topics.
Curtain up!
On 13 November 2024 we kicked off with our first guest: Ralph Korduan, expert for property valuation HypZert F/M. With him we discussed the differing views of object values from sales and back office. The valuation of the object does not match the mortgage lending value used in the back office. The result: financing collapses and hard-won notary appointments fall through. But our Expert Talk is just as solution-oriented as our software, and this is where Lora comes in. Thanks to the web-based software, customers can automatically generate an initial value indication for residential properties, multi-family houses or mixed-use properties in minutes. The advantage: loan decisions are accelerated and notary appointments no longer need to be cancelled.
The master of document procurement
In the second episode we welcomed Senior Sales Account Manager Raymond Durant. With him we talked about perhaps the biggest pain point and time-consuming task in any mortgage process: document procurement.
With more than 20 years of experience, he knows firsthand how arduous the procurement of essential documents for property valuation can be, and is internally known as the showstopper of document procurement. He is the man behind the software that can solve this problem. We are talking about Geoport. Through our software solution, clients can access numerous data sets, reports and documents such as contamination and building encumbrance information, declarations of division and floor plans, helping them to value properties efficiently, carry out market analyses and make well-founded decisions. Land register extracts at the touch of a button, one could say.
Mortgage financing made easy
However, there was another topic close to our hearts: mortgage financing from the insurer’s perspective. So we spontaneously invited Maximilian Schroll. As Managing Director of yumata consulting GmbH, he shared his perspective on the challenges of mortgage financing. Among other things, we discussed the issue of long processing times resulting from a shortage of skilled workers, which often leads to delays in financing. Here too, we already had the right solution ready: the fully automated mortgage software baufi.me makes it possible to design the entire process from lead to back office efficiently — saving resources, time and ensuring transparency.
The journey continues
In the most recent, fourth episode, we brought another guest into the Expert Talk: Stefan Hodolitsch, Senior Project Manager at Interhyp AG. With him we discussed the bank-specific property value. Although broker and mortgage platforms were originally intended as temporary solutions, every second mortgage application is now submitted through these platforms. They have since become an integral part of the loan and approval process. Accurate property values are essential to ensure good cooperation between customers, brokers and lenders.
But that’s not all: the next Expert Talk is already in progress, and we are delighted to welcome Alexander Naumann – Senior Director at 1822direkt – as our next guest. We will be drawing on his expertise on the implementation of artificial intelligence (AI) in mortgage financing.
